Doghouse Leathers
A well-made dog house can offer your pet protection from weather conditions. It can also give your pet privacy and a sense of security. It can even be a fun place to spend time with your dog. However, not all dog houses are created equal. Every dog is unique and should have a home that is built to meet its needs.
The first step to building a customized DIY dog house is to determine the size of your pet. The height should be the dog’s height plus 12″, the width should be the length of the dog’s body plus 18″, and the back sloping to the dog’s height plus 3″.
Corner braces are then installed to keep the base from racking and prevent drafts. A plywood panel is then cut to size and secured to the base. The partition wall keeps out the elements and provides a small space big enough for your dog to use their body heat to stay warm. It is then secured to the base and front walls with weather-resistant screws.
Doghouse Leathers, the Capitol Hill leather and kink institution that started 13 years ago in the bathroom of The Cuff, has found a new home on E Pike at 14th. Owner Jeff Henness is a Seattle native with a deep love for the city and its residents. He’s brought that passion to his shop, which is more than a leather/rubber/kink store. Doghouse also has a back room where local magazines and activism groups can hold meetings.
