Did Your Dog House Truck Have Its Own Inspection With One Unsafe Driving Road Performance Measure Value?
One of the best inventions of mankind is the Dog House Truck. This amazing product takes great toppings, such as cheese, barbecue, ketchup, and a hot dog, and layers them over a Styrofoam base of one pound of moist, cracker-thin tots. Then it adds in a microwave-safe container that contains frozen cookie mix (that you can make yourself if you’re the creative type), a few tablespoons of barbecue sauce, and voila – instant, tasty, highly satisfying food that freezes beautifully and tastes amazing. It’s healthy, too, because the ingredients for this delectable creation only take up a tiny bit of room, so the entire family can share it.
Now, let’s talk about my friend’s story. She noticed that the trucks were newly built, but had not been thoroughly inspected. They had only been thoroughly cleaned at the factory where they were built, she noted, but “after we got them home, the guy that cleans them comes by and checks each one for hours-of-service, then takes his time and puts everything back in its place like a brand new item.” On our way out of town the next morning, she had noticed that one of the three vehicles in her lane had been swept for hydrocarbon; there were dark black stains on the exterior of the pickup. The truck, she noted, had brown markings all along the frame and welded door panels. It was obvious that someone had been inside that vehicle overnight: the floor of the truck was cool to the touch, there were no signs of tire wear anywhere near the floor, and the engine sounded fine.
The next day, I went to the site with my buddy, hoping to see what the problem might be. By the time we got there, the inspection report was on the truck again, this time covering the entire truck. We were surprised to see that the report did not make any mention of the hydrocarbon contamination of the welded areas, nor did it mention the brownish brown stains on the exterior of the pickup. The whole thing made us very suspicious of our mechanic’s assessment of the truck’s safety within the previous twelve months.
