Many dog owners opt for dog house plans that are free to download from the Internet, but they’re not always effective. Fortunately, there are a few ways to improve your chances of success. Firstly, look for a set of plans that is both detailed and easy to build. Even if you have no prior experience in woodworking, these plans will give you the foundation to build a dog house with minimum fuss. Then, if you’ve mastered the basics of carpentry, you can simply omit all the complicated steps.
Then, attach the floor frame with 1×6 boards. Be sure to space them evenly, and use a 3/16” spacer between each piece of lumber. Use finishing nails to secure the floor frame in place. Once the frame is in place, build the back face of the dog house. The back wall should also be squared. Once the floor is complete, the frame can be assembled. The door and the sides can be positioned and finished to suit the size of the dog.
Once the basic construction is complete, you can add extra features like an awning, a fountain, and a splash pad. A dog house that’s made from wood will probably need to be reshaped or resized, and should always have fresh water available to keep it clean. The plan should also specify the best location for fresh water. A dog house that overlooks a pond, lake, or pool can also have an awning and fountain to give the dog a place to relax.
