A dog house is a shelter for a pet to sleep in and stay safe from the elements. In order to keep the temperature inside comfortable, dog owners use materials like hay and straw to line the house. While these materials are insulators, they do not provide a clean environment because they can carry bacteria and livestock diseases. An alternative to hay and straw is newspaper that will not decompose inside the house, and it also does not stain skin or fur. However, some people worry that the ink from the newspaper may bleed onto the floor of the dog house and leave a permanent mark.
The first step in removing an ink stain is to blot the spot with a clean white cloth towel, removing as much ink as possible from the surface of the carpet. This will prevent the ink from spreading during the cleaning process. If the ink is dry, the next step is to soak the spot with alcohol. Use enough denatured alcohol to fully cover the dry spot, and wait five minutes for the chemical to penetrate and loosen the ink from the carpet fibers.
Hydrogen peroxide works just like bleach, and it is much safer to use around children and pets. A small amount of shaving cream also does a great job of removing ink from carpet, and it can be helped along by light agitation with a soft toothbrush. For a very stubborn stain, ether can be used, but it is extremely dangerous and requires extreme caution.
