The Dog House in Quitman, Arkansas – The Home of the Ghost

In a sleepy little town called Quitman, Arkansas, there is a house that has become infamous for being the home of the ghost known as Dog Boy. While this might sound like an urban legend, a look at local newspaper archives and interviews with long time residents have revealed that this tale is very much true.

The story begins in 1954 when Floyd and Alline Bettis welcomed their only son, Gerald, into their household. After years of infertility, they were thrilled to have a child and immediately began spoiling him. They also adored him and treated him like the center of their universe. As he got older, it became apparent that Gerald was no ordinary child. He would catch cats and dogs around the neighborhood and torture them inside his home. He even built an extension on the house to accommodate his growing collection of victims.

Eventually, neighbors reported hearing whimpers and howls coming from the house. They also started to see shadowy figures moving about the property. One man who was working on the house at night once saw a figure standing in a rear sunroom staring down at him. He claims that the apparition looked like an old World War I soldier and was wearing a hat with eagle feathers.

The Central Arkansas Society for Paranormal Research (CASPR) has investigated the house and found that strange things happen there. The owners have reported lights turning on and off on their own, unexplained noises, and cold spots. The house has been listed several times, and each time the listing price drops until it finally went under in 2014.
