Why Do I Need a Dog House?

A doghouse is a structure used to protect a dog from the elements, such as rain, sleet or snow. These structures were used by dogs and wolves when they had to be kept indoors. The doghouse was more useful in cold climates because it gave protection from wind and cold. It also made it easier for dogs to clean up and mark their territory. Dogs and wolves were often raised together and the two species often worked in packs. It was common for a dog to lie in a doghouse all winter and stay out in the snow when there was no grass growing. In warmer climates where there was not a lot of snow, they would come out in the summer to drink and play.

Building a doghouse to keep a dog in a yard can be an investment in the health of your dog. This investment is usually a better investment than buying a house because if your dog has a bad doghouse, it may not be able to get out very easily. If you build your dog a doghouse, it will be easier for you to find your dog when you have trouble locating your dog when it wants to go outside to drink or play. It will also give you an opportunity to exercise your dog on a regular basis. You can put the doghouse in an area that your dog enjoys so that they will be more likely to use it. If they get used to it they will start using it more often and that will keep them from feeling bored.

A doghouse can be constructed from wood, metal, fiberglass, stone, plastic or natural materials. It should have a groundsheet, a roof, side walls and sides. A side wall protects the dog from weather elements like snow, sleet or rain. A side wall should not be a roof because then your dog will be unable to get out of the doghouse.
